A friend and sometimes-bottom of mine asked me earlier to define "power exchange"
This was off the cuff & I was pretty tired, but I came up with this & she seemed to think it was quotable or worth saving, so we start with it
Feel free to write e-mails or throw tomatos if you agree or disagree
Power Exchange: Two people coming together in a mental or physical scenario involving one partner (the submissive) WILLINGLY surrendering personal power to the other (the Dominant) with the understanding that said power will be re-channeled back in to him or her through the Dominant, providing fulfilment to both parties THROUGH THE SHARING AND EXCHANGE OF SAID ENERGIES, WHICH ARE CHANGED AND GROW STRONGER IN THE PROCESS
All caps text sections in purple are additions to the original statement I thought of as I was typing this
Ok, one of the questions I get asked all the time is why I call myself a Top and not a Dom. I see it as a matter of levels of responsibility.
Definitions in the community are free-flowing & often very personal.......I am not about to get in to a semantics argument or a fight over who & what is "real". This is MY web page, so MY opinions :-D
To me, D/s involves a lot of responsibility, from all the parties involved (something that's sadly all too often lacking these days)
And that's the seperation point. A Top plays with bottoms. A Dom has a sub or subs. And a Master OWNS a slave or slaves. Interesting word, "has". A form of the word "have". And what does the dictionary say about "have"?
1 a : to hold or maintain as a possession, privilege, or entitlement b : to hold in one's use, service, regard, or at one's disposal to stay c : to hold, include, or contain as a part or whole
Ok, so a sub is a Dom's possesion, privelege, or entitlement, something in his service or at his disposal. But does the dictionary say anything else? Yes! 2 : to feel obligation in regard to, usually used with an infinitive with to things to do 3 : to stand in a certain relationship to
OK, it's 3 frickin' AM, I will add more to this later.
